    About Special Pathways, Inc

    Dr. Camille Benitez- Founder

      

    Dr. Camille Benitez is a passionate educator, advocate, and the visionary behind Special Pathways. As the fourth generation in a family of educators, her mission has always been to serve others—especially individuals with neurodiversity.

    With over a 15 years of experience in special education, Dr. Benitez has developed inclusive programs across Puerto Rico and the United States. She holds a Doctorate in Education from Nova Southeastern University, where she earned a perfect 4.0 GPA. She also earned her Master’s in Higher Education with a 4.0 GPA, and her Bachelor's degree Magna Cum Laude from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, graduating with the highest GPA in her major.

    Her doctoral research focused on leveraging technology to support  neurodiverse learners , showcasing her forward-thinking approach to education. Dr. Benitez has served as a Special Educator, Instructional Coach, Curriculum Developer, and Educational Supervisor. Her published work is featured on CPALMS, Florida’s leading academic standards platform. She has also led multiple action research projects to support students with disabilities.

    As a neurodivergent mom of two children with autism, Dr. Benitez brings both professional expertise and personal passion to her work. Her dedication to inclusive education and community empowerment continues to shape Special Pathways’ mission and impact.

    Elizabeth Monroe- Vice-President

     

    Elizabeth Monroe serves as the Treasurer and Vice President of Special Pathways. With an extensive background in working with the special needs population, Elizabeth brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her role. Growing up with two siblings who are cognitively impaired, Elizabeth has been deeply connected to the unique needs and challenges faced by this community.

    Her professional journey includes a significant tenure as a bus driver for students with special needs at the Polk County School Board, where she ensured the safety and comfort of her passengers. Additionally, she worked as a paraprofessional in separate classes, providing dedicated support to students with severe disabilities and higher needs.

    Elizabeth's diverse experience also encompasses roles such as a para-educator in Orange County School, where she contributed to the educational development of special needs students. She also served as a supervisor at a sheltered workshop, overseeing clients working for local companies and ensuring a productive and supportive environment. As a supervisor for high-level men in group home living, she managed day-to-day operations and care. Furthermore, she volunteered as a coach for Special Olympics, demonstrating her commitment to community service and empowerment. As a job coach in Lake County School, she supervised students on job assignments and facilitated their transition to the workforce.

    Throughout her career, Elizabeth has been recognized for her exceptional ability to connect with and support individuals with special needs, making her an invaluable asset to Special Pathways. Her extensive experience, combined with her personal connection to the special needs community, fuels her passion for promoting independence and inclusion.

    Alondra Guerra- Secretary

    Alondra, the secretary of Special Pathways, is a senior college student majoring in Clinical Psychology at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. Throughout her academic journey, she has demonstrated exceptional dedication and leadership. She was honored with the Ramon de Jesus Sierra Award and served on the board of the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) as the Publicist. In 2018, Alondra excelled in various competitions, securing local and regional wins. Her commitment to community service is evident through her volunteer work including collaborating with the Independent Living Program and serving as a volunteer in special needs summer camps in Puerto Rico. In 2020, she graduated from the Nursing Program with the Highest Honors. 

    Alondra is also certified in American Sign Language (ASL)  and CPR, enhancing her ability to support diverse communities effectively.

    As a member of the Honor Society, she has been recognized for her academic excellence and has been selected to conduct workshops at her campus. Alondra's passion for helping others and her extensive experience make her a valuable asset to Special Pathways. 

    The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.
